If you are an employer, did you ask yourself who you should be in your workplace “manager or leader”? Understanding the differences will help you deal with your team the best way to get them comfortable while working with you, as well as extracting the very best results from them. It’s you who you can control the valuable energy you can get from your teamwork.

No matter who you are now, a strong businessman should always seek for his people’s loyalty. It’s also known that leadership and management are two sides of the same coin. It’s all about how to use each one/weapon in the right place at the right time.

Simply put, management is a part of leadership while leadership is the way to make the team believe in your vision and work WITH you (not FOR you) to achieve your goals. That is, you are requested to create a suitable work atmosphere wherein all team gets involved in challenging with confidence to reach their potential.

Here are some of the common traits found in most strong leaders:

1) Committed to Honesty: To get people believe in your vision, it’s a must to be honest with them. Firm your promises is the shortest way to meet your team’s expectation with the right actions. The best advice here is not to make a promise that you are not sure to keep. Always put into consideration that small promises count.

2) Good Communication Skills: This point is crucial in your development journey circle wherein your people should be well informed with all steps you are going to take, if not making them participate in most of them. That will help you destroy any roadblocks could be faced whether inside or outside your company.

3) Inspiration Mixed with Appreciation: Inspiring your team will enroll them in the big picture wherein everyone has a specific role to accomplish. Keep in mind that your success adventure contains some gears and weapons. If one gear doesn’t work well, the adventure will affect negatively. Your role here is to appreciate your team’s hard effort besides inspiring them to see your vision well. Encouragement is also another weapon for creating a successful relationship with your teamwork.

4) Your Future Visualization: Determining your goals will crystallize the success way that you should follow with your team. Walking randomly is a bad indicator to let your team believe in your vision. So that, your team deserves to keep informed of your future journey, where were you, where you are, where you are heading, etc.

5) Take Risks: Leaders have a strong determination to take risks by taking the steps where success can exist. On the other hand, managers’ main task is to control risk even if they are able to see the good results. That also shows how managers and leaders think about the decisions. Leaders go to the long-term decision; however managers prefer the short-term choices.

5) High-End Results: Because leaders feel comfortable with win-to-win situation, they care about high quality with high-end results. They do prefer the know-how strategy which enables them to build better relationships with their team, instead of creating boring systems and ridiculous processes.

Top Today Tip: Leaders have fans to follow them, however managers have routine employees to work for them. If you are a manager, start thinking of being a leader whose main role is to lead the team to the right way. Saying or sending an email with “Thank You!” will prove how healthy relationship can achieve the targets in a very short time.
